A few more random comments:
WD says 650cc bikes used to be considered big and points out at the same time Harley had a 74 cubic inch powerplant. Yup, can't disagree. But, let's put things in their proper perspective light: 650cc are about 40 cubic inches. My first Honda had a hair more than -3- cubic inches, and then I graduated to 5 1/2 cubic inches (A Honda 50, then a Super 90). I could get 60 mph out of my S-90 on a flat. I'll bet the Savage can get 100 mph or so on a flat, and I've never even ridden one.
And one thing is for sure: Any bike that can produce 100 mph or even close to it, isn't a toy in my estimation.
I also disagree with the assertion they have a useful life; when it's reached, replace them. While this makes sense for propellors and turbine hot sections, it sure doesn't make any sense to me.
